Getting Ahead with ASE Certification

Ask any automotive technician and they’ll tell you that the best way to get an edge in a competitive job market, or to secure a coveted promotion, is to add ASE certifications to your resume. A special title given out by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) to qualifying technicians, ASE certification can be earned in many areas of the automotive industry.

To earn ASE certification, technicians must pass an exam that focuses on the skills needed in everyday situations and by having at least two years of on-the-job experience or a two-year auto repair degree plus one year of job experience. In addition, ASE-certified professionals have to pass a test every five years to retain their certification.
